Portland Bike Tours specializes in helping people experience Portland by bicycle. With a large selection of both urban and state wide tours to choose from along with affordable bike rentals we will get you rolling. This is Portland’s Oldest bike tour company and most deeply rooted in local bike culture and events. Our competitors might have a cookie cutter logo or plastic decals on their bikes that make you feel like a tourist, but you won’t find them on a Midnight Mystery Ride, Bike Polo Game, or Voodoo Doughnut Scavenger Hunt. We cater to your interests with constant updates on the latest and greatest of Portland culture, fantastic customer service, and a passion for creating memorable experiences. – Evan Ross
Portland Bike Tours and Rentals was founded in 2007 by Evan Ross, a West Coast native. After taking bike tours in several countries while traveling around the world Evan was inspired when he moved to Portland and found no one was providing this service. With a degree in Outdoor Leadership and Education, and a passion for cycling, Evan built the company up from scratch, without traditional loans, piece by piece. It all started with two matching city bikes from a garage sale and taking people around town on the weekends, now Portland Bike Tours has provided hundreds of tours, thousands of rentals and continues to help people experience Portland by bike every day.
Jeff Bernards has been bike touring for 40 years, both nationally and internationally. He’s lead rides down the California coast, across the California desert (Death Valley, Mohave, Joshua Tree & Anza-Borrego to San Diego). He traveled with his bike around the world in 1994 and just finished the 25th annual Cycle Oregon in 2012, going solo. Jeff has lived in Portland for 35 years and spent many summers here too before moving here from the SF Bay Area.
“I try to make all the tours I lead both relative and interesting. My favorite tour is the Banks-Vernonia trail, car free with a memorable experience of rural Oregon. Your safety is my top concern. Ride On, “ -Jeff
Sam Appelbaum, a Northern California native, is truly passionate about cycling in Portland. When not guiding clients through the city, Sam enjoys pedaling and exploring Portland’s many unique neighborhoods and volunteering at a do-it-yourself bike cooperative.
A recent graduate from the University of Oregon, Sam cultivated an interest in bicycles after countless hours of wrenching on students’ bikes while working for the school’s outdoor program. During the winter months, Sam travels south to Tahoe, CA to guide for a dog sled tour company and pursue another passion, bike-supported back country snowboarding. You can see more of Sam’s adventures at www.pedalyourturns.com.
