Portland Bike Tours and Rentals was founded in 2007 by Evan Ross, a North West native. After taking bike tours in several countries while traveling around the world Evan was inspired when he moved to Portland and found no one was providing this service. With a degree in Outdoor Leadership and Education, and a passion for cycling, Evan built the company up from scratch, piece by piece. It all started with two matching “Free Spirit” bikes he scored from a garage sale, fixed up, and used to show people the time of their life. Now Portland Bike Tours has provided thousands of Bike Tours and Rentals, and continues to help people experience Portland by bike every day.

bio-Sierra“Sierra Renz is an undergraduate student at Lewis & Clark College where she is currently studying to be an opera singer. A transplant from Phoenix, Arizona, Sierra had only biked a handful of times before moving to Portland in 2012. Now, on top of being a year-round commuter, Sierra can be found taking part in group rides, century rides, racing Cyclocross in the fall, and advocating for women’s cycling. Her dream would be to one day take part in the Tour Divide, a 2,745 mile race that stretches from Canada to Mexico through the mid-western section of the United States.
When not guiding tours, Sierra can be seen performing in a wide variety of staged shows, ranging from contemporary and classical operas to stand-up comedy and improv. Her interests outside of music and cycling include history, cultural anthropology, and linguistics.
Her favorite parts about Portland are the rainy weather and the kind and friendly attitudes of its people. Sierra loves experiencing Portland via bicycle and can always be found encouraging people to incorporate cycling into their everyday experiences. She believes that cycling is the best way to connect with the world around you and that it encourages patience and strength in the lives that it touches.”

GuthrieCyclePortlandBioGuthrie Straw is a passionate cyclist and advocate living in Portland, Oregon. When not in the shop, he enjoys pursuing his goal of exploring every single marked bicycle path in the Portland Metro area. He can often be seen at Pedalpalooza events, or helping with a flat tire repair on the waterfront path. Having been in the saddle since a young age, he understands the need to nurture the ambitions of future cyclists, no matter their level of experience.
A graduate of Pacific University with a degree in Environmental Studies, and an emphasis on Outdoor Leadership, he believes that the most rewarding way to travel is by bike, especially for long distances. Because of this, Guthrie runs and maintains PedalDream.com, a website devoted to inspiring people to leave the car at home, and enjoy travel in the saddle. In the summer of 2017, Guthrie hopes to cycle from the tip of Alaska to Patagonia, but until then he is doing his best to help people discover the joy and freedom of letting a bike into their lives.

Keegan Burns rides his bikes as a way to appreciate all that Oregon has to offer–both city and countryside. He was drawn to Portland to study Chinese history and poetry at Reed College and fell in love with the livability of the city and its fantastic coffeeshop culture. Keegan is constantly looking for ways to incorporate a bike in all of his off-road adventures and daily excursions. Ask him about his top 5 favorite S24HO (sub 24 hour overnight) rides around the Northwest–an awesome way to get out into the wilds without a car. Look for Keegan unwinding in a quiet corner of the Belmont library when he isn’t giving tours of Stumptown’s city streets and breweries.
