Another full week of TOURS with fabulous visitors

This week we had visitors from Phoenix, NY, Georgia, Vermont, Alaska, and Texas! We also had three riders that had not taken a ride in over 15 years – way to get out there! We are excited to be leading a ride for the upcoming Oregon Hand- built bicycle Show and to be gearing up for our monthly FOOD CART Tours. Give us a shout to sign up and inquire about the themes. These rides will be Every First Thursday of the Month and will end at a different Art Gallery in NW. See you on the streets

Oregon Bicycle Tours rocks the Sandy Ridge Trail

erosion control

Had a great ride Friday afternoon and evening at the Sandy Ridge Trail System. We are now offering a shuttle service and guided trips to this new development and we are very excited about the diversity of terrain. A winding paved road ride takes you up to the top of the ridge ( about 30-45 min ) where you can enjoy the 3.35 mile Thee Thirty Eight Trail- an intermediate loop with more challenging cutoff options for the intrepid experience. A two part decent trail – “Hide and Seek” takes you adjacent to the winding road here and there while sweeping through the forest, then jumps across Little Joe creek before a cut off trail takes you back to the road, or you continue down to the lower section of trail leading back to the parking lot. This section of trail has some excellent engineered trail examples or erosion prevention and quality control. The lower section of “Hide and Seek” is a bit easier stretch of single track, winding through sections of burmed corners and high rollers. There is an easy loop for beginner riders on the lower section of the hill called “Laura’s Loop” that has a nice smooth roll and explores a stand of Big Leaf Maple trees. Looking forward to trail additions under construction and a big thanks to the trail crew!

Bridge Fest Grand Success!

That was fun…  the PDX Bridge Festival!

Move em out

The first annual PDX Bridge Festival was a grand success! We had daily Bridge Tours with the Festival, and on Saturdays we had free rides. Lots of interested participants came along for the history of Portland’s bridges and a look at our quiet green transportation corridors. We rode a scenic loop of the Willamette Riverfront from the Steel Bridge to the Sellwood, and visited history through stories of the people who built our bridges and the communities they brought together. We had a great time and enjoyed the events, exhibitions and movies of the PDX Bridge Festival – The Kick-off Party was a hootenany- and we are looking forward to next year already

Thanks to the organizers and volunteers who made this great event possible!
